Bill to create National Heritage Area in New York’s Finger Lakes clears Senate committee

Legislation first introduced in 2015 by U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand passed out of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee this week, bringing the Finger Lakes one step closer toward becoming a National Heritage Area.

The news comes months after Gillibrand – joined by Congressman Tom Reed – renewed their support for the legislation in July.
