Indianapolis park where Robert Kennedy announced King assassination up for NHL, possibly NHS, status

Rep. Andre Carson is leading an effort to get the Indianapolis site where Robert F. Kennedy historically announced to crowds that Martin Luther King Jr. had been assassinated designated as a National Historic Landmark.

Carson and the rest of the Indiana congressional delegation sent a letter Wednesday morning to Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, urging him to use administrative authority to name the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park on Indianapolis' north side as a landmark ahead of the 50th anniversary of the assassination and Kennedy's call for peace.
