Nonprofit group, cemetery combine to accept cremated remains left at Vietnam Veterans Memorial

For years, the families of Vietnam War veterans have been leaving behind urns, wooden boxes — even plastic baggies, envelopes and Tupperware — containing the cremated remains of their loved ones at the base of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

That practice, however, left the National Park Service in a quandary about what to do with them, some of whom have no identification.
