Rebuilt after being burned in battle, historic farm at Antietam NB opened for tours for first time

SHARPSBURG — Antietam National Battlefield's Mumma farm is open to the public, 156 years after it was burned to the ground by Confederate soldiers.

"It's an opportunity to tell visitors about the family that lived here before and after the battle," said Keith Snyder, park ranger and Antietam National Battlefield's chief of resource education and visitor services. "It's a chance to come and walk around the farmstead."
