Tribe, USBLM agree on land swap involving Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains NMon

The federal government and the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians will swap control of thousands of acres of mountainous land near Palm Springs in a deal officials said will improve land management for both sides.

Over the roughly two decades that such an exchange has been in the works, many people raised concerns that placing sections of land with public trails into tribal hands would lead to limited trail access.
