UK | Surprise benefit of current heat wave: ancient archaeological sites more visible from air

As the country basks in sunshine, the heatwave is delighting archaeologists by revealing hidden ruins.

The hot weather has provided the perfect conditions for ancient sites to become visible from the air, according to the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales. Experts are rushing to document the monuments, which appear in crop marks — patterns of growth in ripening crops and parched grasslands — before the dry weather ends and they disappear once again.
